Golf 1J: Gear Shift Problems in Cold Weather (Solution)

Difficulty shifting gears when cold (shifting into 1st or 2nd gear requires excessive force when the engine is cold).

Affected gearbox assembly/unit:
DYP/EBA from 01 058 to 01 098.
ECW/DZL from 01 088 to 17 128.
EGD/ELG from 01 108 to 17 128.

Cause.
Adverse "viscosity-temperature behavior" of the transmission fluid at extremely low ambient temperatures.

Solution:
In cases of persistent complaints, the transmission oil G 052 726 A2 (1.0 l container) can be added.
