Crankshaft Sensor 1Z

Hi there,

The older 1.9 TDI engines have a crankshaft sensor that is mounted into the engine block. A "toothed wheel" is attached to the crankshaft and is read by the sensor.
What signal does the sensor output?
Could the signal be evaluated using an external display device (e.g., a universal tachometer)?
Due to mTDI, my sensor is no longer working, and I'm considering using it for a different purpose.

This disc is constructed similarly to the metal plate in a distributor, where the hall sensor is mounted, with a total of 4 slots (at least this is the case for VW/Audi) - only slightly larger.
Normally, a rectangular signal should come out of it, but I don't know how it's wired.

Of course, you must switch to an 8-cylinder setting on a universal tachometer because the crankshaft rotates twice as fast as the "distributor" .
