VW will eventually also sell the Amarok in Europe. Logically, the engine will have an EU5 classification and also a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).

What exactly does VW sell in South America? A DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is highly unlikely, right? After all, the car is explicitly designed for the "emerging market" and a highly complex DPF system would seem to rule that out. And there are probably plenty of low-quality diesel fuels available in the main markets as well.
How do you find out if there is a reasonably configured CR-TDI (i.e., something like a Euro3 version icon_wink.gif) available?

Regards,
Jens.

Well, in Brazil, it has the same basic features as it does here.

It's probably just missing the DPF (if it's even supposed to have one). The rest of the components were presented at the last MTZ (trade fair) and differ from those offered in the T5.2 only in terms of being adapted for a lengthwise installation.

Even in Argentina, it only shows "CR TDI"... I think you won't find much else there.

Ugh, what are they building there? A Golf IV with Golf V parts, in a backyard tuner style...

It's probably just that the DPF (if it even exists) is missing.

Hmm, and are they trying to undercut the Japanese with this?
They produce engines that are better suited to the needs of less developed emerging markets.
In Africa, no one would ever buy an engine that has been contaminated with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) for local use.
Well, let's wait and see. There's nothing concrete to see yet, just virtual information.

Jens.

We also have engines that are known in Asian countries and do not have a DPF. In those cases, they only meet the Euro 3 emissions standard.

Hm, and is that how they want to undercut the Japanese?
They at least build engines that are more suited to the needs of less developed developing countries.

That's correct. Older models almost always had timing gears, while VW engines only came with timing belts/had timing belts.
Maintenance is not as commonplace in those countries as it is here, especially since customers may have money for the car itself, but probably not for other things, including maintenance.
It's probably also a matter of mentality, when you think about some of the dark-skinned BMW drivers icon_lol.gif.

Is the 90 hp 1.9 TDI engine in the Argentinian Golf IV still the old VEP engine that was known in Argentina, or is it something newer?
You can really argue about the aesthetics, but it's basically selling old wine in new bottles.
Take a look at the BCorsa in Chile, which has an Aveo-like appearance...

The Argentinian version of this car is noticeably more attractive.
