Hi everyone,

I have a question for you regarding field 2 of the MWB 008 in this label file (059-907-401-ASB.LBL).

008,0,Limiting moments 1
008,1,Motor speed.
008,2,Inside,Moment.
008,3,Torque limitation.
008,4, Smoke containment.

What determines the internal moment?

The background is as follows: I always felt that the 5th gear pulled noticeably worse under full load compared to the 4th and 6th gears. I then checked the control modules MWB 008, 011, and 041, and it was definitely possible to determine that, in the 5th gear, the limiting factor was the internal torque limit, unlike all other gears. The internal torque limit in 5th gear was always approximately 100 Nm lower than the torque limit, which could also be seen in the boost pressure and lambda values.

Weis jemand wie sich das innere Moment ergibt und was dazu führen kann das dieses im 5. Is the range limited?
Unfortunately, due to a lack of time, I haven't been able to create proper logs yet. So far, I've been gathering insights spontaneously using a small handheld scanner.

Best regards,
A6 Avant 3,0TDI Tiptronic Bj. 02/2008

Hello,

The 'inner moment' is the torque that the engine control unit calculates to determine reference values, etc. icon_smile.gif However, it probably won't really help you.

[Assumption]

Torque limitation dependent on gear, for protecting the transmission?
[Assumption based on]

Log data from engine control unit (ECU) modules MWB 1, 8, and 9 would be helpful.

Best regards, Rainer.

Thanks for your feedback, Rainer. I've also been thinking about torque limiting based on the gear, but I don't have as much experience with the EDC16 system to know which specific torque maps would give me more information.

I will log and post the MWB data as soon as possible.

Hi Rainer,

Earlier, while on my way to the store, I briefly checked the MWB 001 using the small handheld scanner. Field 2, which displays the injection quantity, accurately reflects the perceived behavior; it shows a significantly lower injection quantity compared to the other cylinders.

Log will follow as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Hi Rainer,

I haven't had a chance to log in yet, but I will eventually. I have a question for you, and you might be able to answer it.
Are there situations where the transmission could cause the MSG (Motor Slip Control) to reduce power in a specific gear to moderate the torque, meaning when the transmission detects something unusual without immediately triggering an error?

You were probably referring to the torque limits that are stored in the MSG (Message System), which are dependent on the gear, right?

Best regards,

Hi Rainer,

I've created the logs and would be happy to share them with you. Should they remain in their raw CSV format?

However, I came across something else while I was also checking the torque values of the transmission, and guess what.

MWB 014, the engine torque limit shows 565 Nm in all gears, except for the 5th gear, where it is 420 Nm.

I would say that's where the problem lies. But now the big question is: Is this a dataset-dependent issue within the transmission, and therefore not changeable, or is it a consequence of an error or something else, but without any error message?

Best regards,

Sure!

I think the bleeding is normal.

Best regards, Rainer.

If that's normal, then this limitation would completely ruin any chip tuning, especially if it completely neuters the 5th gear. I think it would be even more noticeable in a tuned state.
