Hi,

I currently have a Passat 3C in the workshop that repeatedly shows the error code 02628, "Sensor for swivel module position, right," in the error memory of the AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) control unit (5M0 907 357).

Is this one of the sensors that are mounted on the axles and report the vehicle's load status, or is this the sensor that (theoretically) should be located in the headlight housing to report to the control unit how the actuator for headlight leveling or the cornering light is currently positioned?

Greetings.
John.

Do you have any more error messages?

I would say with a very high degree of certainty that it is the _IM_ headlight.

I needed a new headlight after 2.5 years because the swivel and shutter were having "problems" with each other icon_sad.gif.

No, unfortunately... VCDS only says "02628 - Sensor for swivel module position, right side."
014 - defective - intermittent", followed by the environmental conditions.

As far as Uncle Edgar's information indicates, the sensor can only be located in the actuator motor for headlight leveling and cornering lights... specifically, in the position sensor of the actuator motor.

Ede doesn't show anything there icon_smile.gif.
because there's nothing inside that needs to be replaced.
The cow would reveal that, in turn.

Headlight needs to be replaced, and Ede is quoting a hefty 533 EUR or so. icon_twisted.gif

3D0 941 295 - Headlight leveling motor, compatible with 941-20;

I just spoke with the friendly folks at the repair shop, and they said it's the stabilizer bar link on the front axle. It can't be the case, because the sender on the right side is definitely defective, and the level sensor (3C0 941 274 A) only exists once, and it's located on the left side icon_rolleyes.gif.

I'm going to lower myself to the level of a dealership service department and have them replace the stepper motor, even though I suspect it might not be the problem. It doesn't cost 100€ at VW... it costs more if I have to spend another 2 hours troubleshooting.

We have, in this spotlight, *THREE* degrees of freedom.

- Height = dynamic. Range of illumination.
- in the horizontal plane = cornering light.
- High beam shutter.

I would have guessed that the pivoting module was for the cornering light, and that it's not interchangeable.

You could perhaps try a self-test or the "showroom effect" and observe the resulting values. One of them will be jumping around erratically.

I was able to demonstrate the "showroomeffect" and how it can cause shutters to fail even when the device is stationary.

The automatic cornering light test during startup has been working without any issues so far.
Next week, the icon_rolleyes.gif stuff should arrive, and since the sealing rings on the wash water tank are going to be replaced anyway, I'll take a look at what's inside the headlight and see what could potentially break .

Therefore, the cornering light and daytime running lights are activated.
So, if that's what you want to say, then nothing about it can be wrong.

If needed:

I have a 3C xenon headlight lying around. I got it from a friend who drives a 3C model from 2006, after the mounting brackets broke off in a collision with an animal. Otherwise, the headlight is in good condition. So, if anyone wants to get their hands dirty and use it as a replacement part, I'm open to offers. You can reach me either via private message or by email to my username at gmx.de.

I would also have suspected a faulty tilting module, possibly due to a non-replaceable motor. In my 2008 model, the error message appeared twice, but then disappeared for months after each restart. So, I'm also interested in knowing what the cause was in your case, in case I ever need to replace one myself.

Greetings.
Guste.
