Hello everyone, I'm new here and haven't been a very good mechanic/tinkerer for a while now!
I have been living in the USA since mid-2010 and I drive a 2011 Jetta TDI Sportswagon. Unfortunately, it has been in the VW workshop for a week because the diesel pump broke. Luckily, the car is still under warranty.
I would really like to know if the issue with my car being in the workshop is actually related to the quality of diesel fuel in the USA.
If there is any interest, I will share the workshop's statements here as soon as I receive any information.
Best regards from Florida.
Udo.

Hello,
The sulfur content probably isn't the cause, as that usually manifests as a "sludgy" appearance. Of course, that doesn't mean the high-pressure pump can't fail due to bad fuel in the tank.
Information from the repair shop is unlikely to provide any new insights. If it's broken, it's broken, and yes, it could be due to putting bad fuel in the tank.
Best regards, Rainer.
