Hi.
It's about a Seat Altea 5P from 2004 with a BKC engine, belonging to a friend.
The rear wiper on the car, as is common with vehicles from the Volkswagen Group, had its shaft seize up, which then caused the wiper motor's electronics to burn out.
We got a new one from Valeo, but it won't connect. I measured it, and initially, with the flap closed (the wiper is out of function when the flap is open), there's only a ground connection at pin 31 on the connector, but no voltage to be measured.
When the valve is open (when it should actually be closed), the issue is related to terminals Kl. 15 and Kl. Measure the voltage of the Int and Kl.WW terminals, connecting the probe to terminal Kl.31 and directly to ground.
According to. "According to the user manual, the relevant fuse is intact and there is voltage present. The windshield washer pump is also running when the wiper lever is activated."
Does anyone have a troubleshooting approach? I'm completely stuck at the moment.

Hi,
Perhaps you could check the wiring to the wiper motor with the hood closed.

I can do it later when I have access to the car again.
What's puzzling me is that when the cover is open, there's voltage present at all three contacts.

Good morning!
Check the cables in the area of the tailgate opening, specifically the body connector (usually a rubber grommet). The plastic insulation becomes brittle, and then the individual strands of wire break off one by one. That would also explain the temporary contacts and interruptions.
I've experienced something similar with a Golf 4 MJ 99 before. The best solution is to replace the cable with a new piece, crimp or solder the connection, and insulate it with heat shrink tubing.
Even in a Golf 5 manufactured in 2007, I experienced the same issue with the driver's door (+ broken wire).
I don't think the Golf is built much differently than the Seat.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Translation: The wrong windshield wiper motor was delivered, or, to be more precise, there is no windshield wiper motor available from Valeo for the Altea.
While the delivered unit has the same terminal markings printed on it as the old one, these markings do not correspond to the actual connections.
