Actually, I prefer the standard air filter with its very large surface area, which allows air to flow straight through. I'm not a big fan of strong currents, but the turbulence within this "hood" might be quite significant.

Conclusion: Yes for better sound, no for better performance. You can achieve a similar result to what Ulf described by simply attaching the stock air filter box to the rear wall. "Kilingt" also translates to "sounds good" in English.
