Hi!

Until now, I've only owned vehicles from the Volkswagen Group and have been very satisfied with using VCDS. Now, our son has bought a Kia Picanto (manufactured in 2015).

After realizing I didn't want to be completely blind in one eye, I'm considering purchasing an SC880 through this forum.

Interestingly, I can't find many user reviews about this product here (actually, none at all). Also, I'm not sure if this model is still current or future-proof, as it has been on the market for quite some time (or rather, *was* on the market, because it's no longer available from the manufacturer).

Can anyone provide information here?

Best regards.
Alex.

Hello Alex,

Welcome back to the diagnostic jungle! Switching from VCDS to a universal solution is often disappointing because you won't be able to replicate the depth of functionality offered by VAG tools with this device when working on a Kia Picanto manufactured in 2015.

Regarding the device (SC880 / CG680 Pro):
Yes, the two are technically identical. Updates are still available, but especially with older Asian vehicles, the coverage is often limited to "basic functions" (reading/clearing error codes, live data, basic actuators). It's usually not sufficient for special coding or comfort features.

My sales philosophy (and I'll be completely upfront about it):
The device is priced very competitively; my profit margin here only covers the actual shipping costs and processing fees.
I therefore cannot and will not offer a "test shipment" over long distances. If I send this part across Germany (or further) for a ridiculously low price, and then there are discussions later because it doesn't fully meet the customer's needs for their specific Kia model, the effort and risk involved are disproportionate to the potential gain.

My clear advice to you:
Find a friend or a small workshop in your area that has such a device and connect it to the Picanto. This is the only way to be sure if the features meet your needs.

If you still want to place an order, please note the following facts:

· Returns due to "incompatibility" or "not liking the product" are, of course, at your expense (including the risk of damage during transport).
"I assume no responsibility for the compatibility with specific control units of your vehicle's year of manufacture; the publicly available compatibility lists are the only valid basis."

If you're willing to take the risk, you can go ahead and buy it. However, I would advise – honestly and with your best interests in mind – that you conduct a local inspection first, to avoid any trouble for both of us.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Scheff... no, no - don't worry. I'll stick with my VCDS thanks to Gülf5/6... and a test shipment was never on the cards. I just wanted to know if this device, which you have available, has any "special features" or shortcomings. I knew from the beginning that it wouldn't have the same scope as VCDS. That's why I wanted to get an idea of your experiences with it...

The KIA has no "comfort" icon_biggrin.gif... specifically, it doesn't have wooden seats. It is intended as a car for beginners...

Since it seems that no one in Germany has this device yet, it's likely that even fewer people in Austria will own one. Otherwise, something related to it would probably have appeared on the forum by now.

And thank you for your quick response!

Best regards.
Alex.
