'Hi, has anyone here had any experience with upgrading the intercooler? I'm thinking of installing the intercooler from the 150 hp TDIPD engine into my own TDIPD (115 hp, AJM engine). The intercooler on the 150 hp version is mounted horizontally in the center of the bumper, which I think will get better airflow than the one in my wheel well. What should I be aware of when doing this? Do I need to make any changes to the electronics? I don't think so, because the boost pressure remains the same, it will just take a little longer to build up, and the amount of air shouldn't change, right?'
I would be grateful for any advice.
Best regards,
Stefan
The electronics probably do not need to be adjusted.
You have already mentioned the expected poorer response rate.
The rest should, in my opinion, just be a matter of craftsmanship.
Here's a request: If you really go through with this project, please do some before-and-after tests at 2000-4000 rpm (under as identical environmental conditions as possible), and post the results here so that we can have a reasonably well-documented understanding of what this actually achieves.
