Hello,

I'm looking for an original VW repair manual for my Golf 4 TDI 81KW AHF, specifically for the electrical engine control system. Can anyone provide me with a website address where I can find something like that?

Best regards, Bernd icon_rolleyes.gif

hi
Check out www.erwin.volkswagen.de, a great website where you can purchase all original repair manuals for a fee!

Hello Animalking,

I know the address, but unfortunately, a credit card is required for payment, and I don't have one.

Regards,
Bernd.

Yes, I'm familiar with that problem, which is why I recently applied for one. You can also find them on eBay, but there are only a few available, and they are very expensive. icon_sad.gif

Order.

Of course, all repair information can also be ordered on CD-ROM.

You have the option to download a fax form for payment by credit card or a fax form for payment by direct debit. Please fax the completed document to the number provided.

Please complete the registration form only on the computer where you will be using the Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) data. For security reasons, a code will be generated that only works on this specific computer.

Once you become an Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) customer, you will receive updated Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) CDs on a regular basis. To ensure that you are always using the most current Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) data, the CD set has a limited validity period, and it will no longer be functional after the end of a quarter.

So: Always use the latest Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) CDs! The data on the CD can only be accessed with a deactivation code.

You will receive the activation code, which is valid until December 31st of a given year, after payment, via fax, email, or on a floppy disk.

The following costs apply for ordering the CD set:
CD set: free.
Shipping costs: 16.40 EUR.
For each document ordered, there are additional costs, currently ranging from 4.60 EUR to 80.50 EUR
.
"He who seeks shall find. Death is free, but why would anyone deliberately put themselves in a prickly situation? Besides, you haven't posted much else here other than 'Looking for free stuff'?"
If you're a car mechanic, why can't you just quickly check the computer at your former (or current) workshop?
I remember the days of the C64, when a well-known lawyer, disguised as a girl, had pirated copies sent to him so that he could later collect legal fees. Incidentally, this lawyer from Munich is still at it, and apparently, he's doing quite well with it.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,

How do you come to the conclusion that I want to have the repair manual for free?
I know about the CDs; you can definitely get those through direct debit from your bank account. But what would I need those quarterly CDs for? I don't run a workshop.
Currently, I am unable to access data from my workshop because I am attending a master craftsman training program, and the only data available there comes from the Bosch Proggi Esi-Tronic system, which is not very useful to me.

Regards,
Bernd.

Hello Bernd,

I'm sorry, but I don't understand any of this.
Above, you mention that a credit card is required (which you unfortunately don't have).
Is it now suddenly possible to pay in a different way?

Tip:
Since you don't want anything for free, why don't you get the tool from VAG? It should work with direct debit. Plus, you'll also get regular updates. What could be better than that?

Regarding the workshop:
Even if you're in a master's program, couldn't you ask a friend or colleague? They would definitely know how to do it.
Many people here would be happy to have the kind of relationship you have with a workshop. So, give them a call and ask. If that doesn't help, there's always VAG.
Tschüss

Hello everyone,

erWin looks really interesting! Unfortunately, it's currently limited to VW and Audi. Does anyone know of anything similar for Seat?

It doesn't necessarily have to be free; I wouldn't mind spending money on it. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no connections to any workshops icon_sad.gif.

Hello Michael,

It might sound a bit silly, I know.
"With erWin, you can download repair manuals in PDF format, which you have to pay for with a credit card. You can also get them on CDs, which are paid for via bank transfer, but as far as I know, they only work for a quarter of a year and then you need an update. This is currently too expensive for me, as I can't afford much with my Meister-BAföG (a scholarship for skilled workers). That's why I'm trying a "free" option. I still have contacts at a workshop, but it was a small business with only three employees, and they currently only specialize in tire and wear part replacements (until I maybe return). So, there's nothing available there right now either."

Okay, no offense, but if no one can give me a tip on where to order a repair manual, I guess I'll have to order it from the VW dealership.

Regarding Rainer's "accusation" that I only post "free search" requests, I can only say that this has only happened once so far, and that I haven't been a member of this forum for very long. Secondly, I also don't have much time to spend browsing the internet right now; I'm currently under a lot of academic pressure.

Regards,
Bernd.

... @bernd:
Sorry, which vocational school are you referring to? The one I attended two years ago had a system where students shared information like affordable original parts, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting guides, etc., especially because some students came from independent workshops or were unemployed, and almost everyone there drove a car. Also, there were so many people familiar with the VAG group (Volkswagen, Audi, etc.) among the 64 students. If the proportion is only half as large at your school, surely something can be done, right?

Best regards,

Dominique.

Hallo D. Briefly,

I'm at the vocational school in Heilbronn, and over 50% of the students (a total of 21 students) are from the truck industry, and not a single one is from VAG. So, there's not much I can do there. Three people came directly from Audi, but they also don't have access to any data. It's not that bad, I just wanted to see if there was a cheaper, or perhaps a simpler, way to get information than going to a VW dealership.
Now that I've decided to buy the VAG-COM software, and I know that it's not very useful without the necessary data, I've decided to order the required documentation from the VW dealer.

So, thank you to EVERYONE who tried to help me, and also to the others.

Regards,
Bernd.
