Hello,

'Today, I received the following error code in my car's climate control system: '06,3 Coolant temperature sensor (ECT), intermittent A/C open.' Can anyone help me understand this message? What does the abbreviation 'ECT' stand for?'
What I noticed is that when I pressed the button to start the compressor, the indicator (snowflake symbol) appeared, but it wasn't obvious that the compressor was starting. Similarly, when turning it off, there was no noticeable change in the speed. However, when I turned off the engine, I heard the compressor stopping.

The car is an Audi A6 C4 1.9 TDI.

Regards,
Michael.

Okay, so I checked the coolant temperature sensor. The Climatronic system won't start without reliable readings from this sensor, because its cooler is located in front of the water cooler. In the event of an engine overheating, the Climatronic is shut off first, so that its waste heat doesn't also have to pass through the water cooler.

Where is this temperature sensor located?
