'I'm having the following problem with my Golf 4, 66kW.'
which sometimes causes the performance to collapse.
'So, I'm driving normally, I release the accelerator, and then I experience a loss of power.'
As soon as I turn off the ignition, the car starts moving at a normal speed.
Performance ongoing.

Does anyone have any advice?

Hi Fred,

Unfortunately, you haven't provided enough information for me to give a more helpful answer than "something is probably wrong."

- What type of 66kW TDI engine is it (AGR or ALH)? (This should be stated in the service booklet).
- Are any lights flashing on the dashboard?
- Have you ever had any error codes read? (A good workshop usually doesn't charge for that, and you can put 5 euros in their coffee jar icon_smile.gif).

Based on your questions, I think you probably can't do much on your own. Or would "then check the VTG clearance" mean something to you?

If you know more, we can help you further (beyond this point).

Hello,

- is a 66kW EGR valve.
- nothing is blinking.
- Error codes are being read continuously, but nothing is stored in the error memory.

VTG on a 66kW TDI? You have to show that to me...

VG,
Fred.

@ Fred

Okay, if you can read the data, then log it while you're triggering the error.

"So, I found a faulty mass airflow sensor (MAF), which was reducing the fuel injection amount to almost zero, causing the car to stall repeatedly - and there were no error codes stored."

Probably you have strange boost pressure or air mass readings, which is why the engine isn't pulling properly... (just a guess).

Greetings.

I'm just wondering right now, what Ulf is putting so much effort into with those technical articles... icon_question.gif icon_twisted.gif It really shouldn't be that difficult to understand...

It seems some users are already finding it too hot today, so their brains might be going into standby mode, right?
