Document: Engine starts, then immediately stalls. Model: 2002 (Solution)

Due to a voltage surge during starting, the instrument cluster is occasionally put into the "STOP" mode. This prevents data exchange between the instrument cluster and the engine control unit. The engine start interlock disables the starting process.

Here are the following entries in the error memory of the control units:

Motor Status: 17978 Engine Control Unit (ECU) locked, and 18058 missing message from the Kombi.

Combination instrument does not display any errors.

It only affects the combination instrument model year 2002 from the manufacturer Bosch (RB8, RB4, BPV)!
