'The ambient pressure sensor in my engine control unit (ECU) was also defective. This resulted in the car going into limp mode. I was lucky to find another ECU from a disliked online retailer for a small price. I set up my soldering station, removed the faulty sensor, installed a new one, and the car was running again. It took me almost three months to fix it. Since then (June 2004), it has been working perfectly.'

Sorry.
Yesterday I rode a lot of distance and elevation (61 km with 1755 meters of elevation gain), but my mountain bike doesn't have a computer, and I was out all day, so I don't have any logs or photos yet.

@Dieselmartin
I'm so proud of you that at least one of us is exercising regularly...
Have you ever looked inside your control unit and have any idea where the ambient pressure sensor is located? Perhaps you know a specific manufacturer or part number?

Hello,
Wasn't it the case that in the 1Z engine, the boost pressure sensor was located in the engine control unit (ECU), while the ambient pressure sensor was installed separately from the ECU?
I seem to recall seeing a sensor like that inside the car, perhaps behind the light switch.
Like with the lottery, all information is provided without guarantee. Gruss Oliver.

Nope.
I believe that only the SDIs and very old 1Z models had the U-pressure sensor located externally.

Okay, so I've finally gotten a definitive answer that there is an external pressure sensor located in my engine control unit.
That leads me to my next question: Where can I get a new one?
I mean, just the component itself - and without having to buy another control unit?
At Bosch, the original equipment engineering department is constantly busy, while Hitzing and Paetzold apparently only want to fix the problem themselves and aren't saying anything about it – and, as always, VW is completely in the dark.
