Strange Relay Ticking: Troubleshooting Guide

Hi,

In my 1997 90hp TDI Golf 3, there's a strange relay that keeps clicking.
It synchronizes with the engine's firing sequence and is located between the air filter and the diesel filter.
Is this normal, or should I be worried?

Hi TD-Inject,

Even though I'm selling my 1Z now, I had that problem too. Normally, the boost pressure regulator shouldn't make a ticking sound (at least when the engine is off, with the ignition on but the engine not running). But if you don't notice any issues, then you don't need to worry about it. However, it doesn't cost a fortune (30 Euros).
