Hi,
I bought a mass airflow sensor (MAF) for my AFN (Seat Ibiza) on eBay. It arrived today, and I was really excited. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit. The connector has more pins, and the housing is also different. The part number is 028 906 461, which is supposed to be for the AFN engine.
Are there different types of AFNs?
I've also had one from a Golf 3 in there before, and it fit perfectly.
And now what? Do the AFNs (air flow sensors) in the Passat, Bora, A3, A4, etc. have different connectors?
I would really appreciate an answer. I guess I'll have to start searching again.
Regards,
Sneezy.

Hi Schnupfi,
Does the mass airflow sensor fit mechanically?
If so, you would need an adapter cable (plugs, sockets, and cables with the appropriate contacts are available from your local electronics store; I estimate the total cost to be around 10-20 EUR).
I can look up the pin assignments for you if necessary.
Best regards, Rudi.

Hi Rudi,
Thank you for your reply.
I'm not entirely sure if it's mechanically compatible. I didn't remove the old one, and when I unpacked the new one, I immediately saw that the pin configuration didn't match, so I didn't install it. But it looks different. Unlike mine, it only has a grid on one side. The internal components also look different. As far as I can remember, you can see the wire inside mine, but in the new one, there's still plastic around it.
Regards,
Sneezy.
