I found the following information on the DRV company's website regarding the use of the VAG-COM diagnostic tool:
'Quote:'
'1993-1994 1Z TDI: We have received reports from some customers that VAG-COM does not function correctly with these engines. We are working to resolve this issue.'
Has anyone in this forum experienced problems with a 1Z engine, and what kind of problems were they? Or have these issues already been resolved through a software update? I have also emailed the company DRV, but I would also appreciate a practical, real-world answer.
My 1Z model, manufactured in 1994, indicates that the vehicle is not OBD-2 compliant. However, it still functions quite well. It is, however, unable to read data from the central locking system or the ABS. }
@Bertil:
Yes, that's exactly the problem: EZ 11/93.
I have now received a response from DRV. They wrote that there was supposed to be an active adapter plug in 2003 that would fix all the problems with the 1Z models from those years. I will follow up to find out how much this part costs.
