Fuel Injectors: Types, Function & Replacement (12-12-2002, 19:26)

Hi,

Recently, we had several discussions here about alternative tuning methods for the engine control unit (ECU), specifically using larger fuel injectors.

I want to get rid of my current injectors and try the larger injectors for the Caravelle. That's why I went to the VW dealer to get the prices. However, there are three different versions of these injectors.
I'm talking about what you might call nozzle assemblies. So, 4 "standard" ones and one with a catalytic converter. That's a total of 6 different part numbers. They all come from a 150 HP, 5-cylinder Caravelle.

I'm now wondering where the difference lies. Aren't they all 0.216-inch injector nozzles? The VW dealer seemed quite clueless about it.

Someone once auctioned off "VW Motorsport injectors" for the AFN engine on eBay.
Are these even bigger, or what are they?
