Hi everyone,

I have a Polo 6n with an AMF engine, approximately 340,000 km on the clock, manufactured in 2000, and it's making a rattling/grinding noise coming from the area of the oil pump.

I removed the oil pan and found debris inside. Then I checked the oil pump.
Upon inspection, strong vibrations were found in the oil pump, caused by the bearings.
in the oil pan.

I suspect the rattling noise was caused by a lack of oil pressure affecting the chain tensioner.

Upon closer examination of the bearings, I can only determine that there are no plain bearings.
"These are not plastic shavings, but rather metal shavings, likely originating from the valve drive mechanism."

I will now completely disassemble the engine, clean it, and inspect it for any damage.

"This is my first 3-cylinder engine. Has anyone experienced this type of damage before?"

Best regards.
