Hello everyone.
My Golf 3, manufactured in 1996 with a WFS (presumably referring to a specific system or component), needs an additional ignition key. I have already read all the relevant threads about this. The original replacement key has a tag with a number consisting of a letter and 6 digits, not the 4-digit login code that was expected.
Do I have the right number, or should I call my friend?

There should be a kind of "scratch-off area" on the trailer, and behind it is the WFS login information.

If it's a black trailer, then that's the closing number.
After that, you can order a new key.

Then it's probably this closing code. I won't be able to do anything with that.
It would be interesting to know if the key tag could be ordered as an original replacement part. After all, it was originally included with the keys. I suppose I'll have to go to the VAG (vehicle registration authority) and ask for the 7-digit code.
Thank you for the answers.

You need the WFS code, which is in the car. If you're lucky, you might still have the plastic tag that came with the product from the factory, as it usually has that information on it (up to ~99).
For A4 models up to a certain production year, the pin is even located on the WFS-SG (Windshield Frame Support - Side Glass).
