Virtual COM Port

I just bought the professional set from the Dieselschrauber Shop.
I'm very satisfied with it; it has already saved me a lot of money in two cases.

I have a cable with a USB connector, and I read that you can create a virtual COM port using a USB cable.
I visited the Ross-Tech website.

I'm just not getting anywhere with it.
Has anyone ever done this before, and can you tell me how it works exactly?

... the VDC Pro software only works with a real COM port, or what are you planning to do?

Which specific program are you referring to?

I want to use this :O for the BD-II ScanMaster DEMO, and if it works, then I'll buy the full version and also try the PCMSCAN Demo.
I'm looking for a software program (that I can legally purchase) that can read data from other brands besides the VAG group, such as Opel. Most of these programs typically require a COM port.

Why don't you ask the manufacturer of this 'tool'? They should be able to tell you everything about the program and its usage as a potential customer or user.

Okay, there's nothing that can help with that, not even a VCP driver.

I can forget about using the cable to read data from Opel vehicles.
or can someone recommend a free software program, or one that isn't too expensive?

Is there another option for Opel, and if so, how much would it cost?

How is the VTP (Virtual Trunking Protocol) working? Is there a guide or someone who can explain it to me? I'd still like to try it out.
