VAG-COM for Opel?

Hello everyone!
A question:
I own a 1999 Opel Corsa 1.2 16V (gasoline) and I'm experiencing electronic problems.
I would like to read the error codes from the engine control unit because the engine check light illuminates during driving, but no error codes are being stored.
I wanted to know if VAG-COM can be used with Opel control units, or only with those from TDI engines.

OBD2 can work with VAG-COM, and the Opel 99 should be able to handle it, right?
