Window Repair: Audi A4 (1999) - Fix Guide (Solution)

Front window lifters have a faulty one-touch function. Rear window lifters do not work.

Cause:
Variations in the manufacturing process of the microprocessor responsible for the window motor control electronics can lead to the following error symptoms after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery (terminal 30):

Front window lifters:
Automatic high/low speed function not working.
The automatic transmission cannot be re-learned.

Rear window lifters:
The door panel can only be opened, but it cannot be closed anymore.

(Only window lift motors from the manufacturer "Bosch")

Solution:
Replace the defective window regulator motor with a new one.

The part number has not changed, but the tested window regulator motors are marked with a colored dot (green, blue, or purple) on the motor housing.
