Book Recommendation: Must-Read Books

Hello, I would like to learn more about diesel engines and I was wondering if the book that is pictured above as an advertisement is really worth the 48 euros. That's quite a lot of money for a book.
I would also be very grateful for other book recommendations!

I have an older version of this.

That was definitely not an introductory book for people who want to get to know diesel engines properly, but rather a collection of (highly) technical and dry essays, roughly at an engineer's level (or what I think is an engineer's level ).

If you're ready for it (I'm probably not), buy it when it's back in stock.
You probably won't find this much specialized expertise concentrated in one place very often.
