The main purpose of adapting Channel 1, in my opinion, is to optimize the lowest performance range and achieve a smooth, jerk-free transition from idle to partial load, without being sluggish in its response. --> Error database, DIY solutions for reducing jerks.
In terms of performance, an adaptation makes virtually no difference, so it's unsuitable for tuning purposes --> it causes more stuttering than it adds horsepower.
Channel 3 will likely only adjust the EGR rate. The higher the input value, the lower the EGR rate, and vice versa.
