Hello!

After reviewing some threads about minimum RPMs.
When starting the 1.9 TDI engines, I mean, approximately 300 RPM.
"I read values of 500 U/min for the VP and for the PDs."
I think this refers to warm start and cold start without [something].
Preheating. What would it look like if it had been fully preheated?
Does the support reach all the way through because of the glow plugs?
Possibly start the engine with fewer revolutions of the starter motor?

The reason for my question is a flyer I saw in the neighborhood.
(likely PD), which I've now experienced twice during cold starts (around -10°C).
was I was able to admire. He completely lost it and jumped.
Despite that, it turned on after 3 attempts.

Greetings, Klaus.

Then he should really consider installing longer spark plugs in his PD.
I would say it also depends on how good the engine still is, specifically the compression it has.

possibly fewer revolutions of the starter motor, even so?

I believe that these specified starting speeds are not "knock-out" criteria, meaning that a start is impossible below them, but rather reference values used to assess the condition of the engine, glow plug system, and fuel injection system.
I cannot determine the engine speed during starting, but my AFN recently started after 3 seconds with -8° timing, 80% ethanol, and a significantly reduced starting speed (I thought the battery was completely dead icon_eek.gif). I have 3mm shorter spark plugs installed, and I manually pre-glow for about 10 seconds (until I get buckled up and have wrestled with my jacket, etc.). The fuel pump is statically 11° KW advanced compared to normal, the injectors are new 0.216 units with a 220 bar opening pressure for the first injector. Level).

Best regards, Uli.
