Hi.

Was wäre, wenn dies eine fast perfekte passive Regeneration gewesen wäre?

The 417 kilometers consisted of highway (140 km/h speed limit) and country roads.

My interpretation:

"A 'reg time' of 0.0 and 0 attempts means that the person is not participating."
2.6% means it's almost freshly registered.
"417 km" means that they haven't been actively registered for a very long time.

So, either he wasn't producing any soot, or it was operating within the load range where the DPF can self-clean. That is, hot enough for the soot to burn off, but not under such a heavy load that excessive amounts of soot are produced.

I need to check my Bosch manual.

Now, after driving just a few more kilometers, something happened:

Hello Martin,

Does the "mileage since regeneration" counter potentially reset to zero after a certain interval x?

Best regards, Rainer.

It is also possible that:

At distances of 4XX kilometers, a regular [event/activity] MUST start (that's how it usually works).
Those must be the 420 ones, because I didn't fill up the 450 ones today.

He sees 2.8% and thinks to himself, "okay, that's good," and resets all the regulator counters.
That's also fine, because even with an active registration rate of 40%, he would stop injecting at a value significantly above 0%.

All in all, it's wonderful – because it doesn't consume any additional power.
I had never seen such a finely crafted, passively "clean" filter before.
On the other hand, I drove a lot (250 km one way, and then 360 km back the next day) but kept my speed at a calm 140 km/h – after all, I had new tires on the back icon_wink.gif.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

It looks like you were in the correct window for a passive regeneration.

Generally, this process happens constantly and always removes some soot (!). I don't understand "passive regeneration" to mean that it can only reduce the filter's load from, for example, 40% to 3% based on driving style/profile.

Furthermore, from my experience with my old Passat, I know that active regeneration is always initiated, but it can only take a few seconds.
"I've noticed this more often while driving. When using cruise control at a constant speed of 100 to 120 km/h, there are sometimes brief jolts. The turbocharger audibly spools up, and then after 2 or 3 seconds, it stops again, as if saying 'it's going - it'll be alright'."

What do you understand by 'suitable window'?

My understanding is that regeneration begins at a certain ignition temperature.
That is to say, the faster it runs, the hotter it gets – at least as long as there is oxygen in the exhaust gases, which is usually the case with diesel engines.

'So, if I accelerate up a hill in 5th gear with full throttle for 2-3 minutes, it should ignite, and the subsequent 20 kilometers at around 150 km/h should be enough to burn off any excess fuel. Or am I right?'
