Hello!
I need to connect my diagnostic tool there, but I can't find the power outlet.
Or, I'm not even sure where to look for the diagnostic connectors.
My workshop software doesn't turn up anything for those kinds of vehicles either.
Okay, data:
Model 44, 3.6 Quattro, manufactured in 1992.
Warning: Right-hand drive vehicles.
Who knows, or has an idea?
Grüße, Steffen!

Hi.
Is it still located in the fuse box?
Best regards.

If I'm not mistaken, the Type 44 only uses blink codes for diagnostics, and there is no OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) system yet.
EDIT: According to Autodata, it should actually have a diagnostic connector, 2x2, either in the engine compartment or on the "driver's side" (which is likely the passenger side in this case) under the steering wheel.

Hello!
The diagnostic outlet has now been found.
specifically, in the area where the passenger places their right foot in cars with right-hand drive.
It looks somewhat homemade, possibly made from plywood, but it seems to be original.
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate. I will only provide the English translation.
So far, so good, but I wasn't able to retrieve any data.
I have the 2+2 adapter, but the black plug only fits into the left socket, while the white plug fits into all the other 3 sockets.
When plugged into the correct adapter, the LED inside lights up yellow.
However, no control unit is responding.
I know that the 2+2 connector and this whole thing basically works, because I was able to read out all the data with it on an old T4 before.
Perhaps someone has some advice for me, maybe I've made a mistake with the settings or something, or I'm using it incorrectly.
The goal is to read the ABS data, but there are problems with that.

Hi!
Not much new to report for now.
All attempts to extract the data have so far failed.
A promising method,
Someone who works in vehicle development, and has been doing so for over 20 years, and who even tested the V8 engines back then, brought me an adapter and software on a USB stick.
what might work.
However, this failed because no one uses PCs with the old interface anymore.
Too bad. My computer, which I'm currently using, has the interface, but it's running Linux, and it doesn't work either.
Well, anyway, the Audi had a wheel speed sensor that was no longer working, so it was replaced, and tomorrow is the first test drive.
Let's see what happens...

You can't have everything, or you can set it up on a VM, which is something that most people (not all) find overwhelming under Linux. Maybe Jan has a solution for you.

Hi,
Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that we're talking about a serial port...
VMs could actually be helpful here. I would at least start by trying that. With QEMU or VirtualBox, you can easily add a serial port to the VM. Since your software is probably very old, it shouldn't really be a problem in terms of performance.
Qemu-kvm + Windows XP + VCDS Pro + HEXCAN + Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz + Gentoo Linux works perfectly fine, and those are definitely higher requirements.
Is this actually a Windows program or a DOS program? If that's the case, then DOSBox might be helpful under Linux, but I'm not sure if it allows you to pass through serial ports.
Best regards,
Jan.
