Hi
The DLA is realized through various shutters on a wave/roller.
How are they switched?
Because if you have four shutters on a wave and the wave rotates in 90° increments, then in the meantime NO shutter is active - especially if the wave is at 45°.
D.h. in dieser, albeit short, period, full headlights are switched on.
Is that really the case that it only flashes briefly?

Hi Martin,
Why should the transition on the roller be abrupt? One can certainly change gradually from one contour to another on the roller, and thus also incorporate significantly more than just four contours... It's only the bottom (or top) edge of the roller that matters.

Based on the information I have, it appears to be four leaf-like blades. Does the B7 still have Valeo headlights?
On the Hella page for the VarioX module, it appeared to be more like a continuously milled, free-form contour. This would work without a flashing indicator.

Okay,
dann etwas konkreter:
What am I misunderstanding on page 56 of SSP 488?
Or is it deliberately sketched out in a vague way, so that no one can steal the idea (which I don't believe)?

Hi Martin,
I have lost contact with the current SSPs and therefore cannot provide any information about the specific SSP.
For this purpose, I have two hypotheses:
1) Small stepper motors might be fast enough that the short flash doesn't be too noticeable.
2) SSP is incorrectly drawn. (whether intentionally for simplification, due to copyright, or simply because the artist couldn't draw it in a more recognizable way.)
I suspect, however, that contrary to your opinion, option 2 is more likely.
Greetings
Guste

So
google is so free:
Image search for "dynamic light assistant passat"
- The 3D globe, which is understandable for my world, is from Hella.
- The B6 has Valeo bulbs... and they could have solved it differently.
The standard shutter (normal bi-xenon) folds away differently at Hella and Valeo:
- Hella says that it extends orthogonally to the light beam, originating from it.
- Valeo manages to push it forward
In the A7, there was likely a Hella light with multiple nested shutters.

Ah, now, yes.
I don't necessarily see four individual shutters that are switched through one at a time, and which release full distance light in between. The sketch is very rough, and the axis is also so pronounced that at least no full spotlight will shine through.
Take a test drive and report back.

Certainly from Hella, but interesting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kFSuBWGCuY
If you watch it multiple times, you can notice many details in action, for example, the turning off of the headlights, often just before the end of the real-film sequences.
Also, you can also see the wheel.

I have this system installed in my Golf 7.
There is no noticeable flickering. Everything will fade away smoothly and gently. I've also been driving around a lot at night for almost six months, and no one has ever given me their turn signal.

..that's good to read.
The purely "on/off" long-range assist system in the Audi A6 with LED headlights seems so poor that you are constantly being signaled to "honk" your horn.

I'm wondering what the system does when it detects an oncoming cyclist. Does it recognize its headlight? Not everyone has a LED bicycle light.

For cyclists, the light must be bright enough. Regularly, I encounter one in the morning who rides with a normally bright LED light, and I can reliably see him. Occasionally, I've encountered someone with a "flashlight," which I wouldn't trust on the road. The DLA doesn't recognize this. Here, you can manually turn off the feature or hope for the educational effect.
Motorcycle riders are also recognized.
Even broken taillights on cars: It only blinds the illuminated side, which could be a warning for the driver in front

Audi is crazy:
A6 Series: Rain/Light Sensor
REMOVED and replaced with "Wiper Interval Switch" when ordering the DLA.
I can't believe it!

Small Tip: Think about where both are installed...
In the rear-view mirror housing, either the camera or the rain sensor can only be located. Both don't quite fit.

Haha... and what is that?
The lower part can be found as "RLS" on an A6 with "only" Xenon plus.
