Hello fellow diesel enthusiasts,
Okay, I'd like to introduce myself here now:
My name is Gerhard, and I've been infected with the TDI bug for many years. I still remember comparison tests in automotive magazines like "TDI vs. GTI - who is better?" etc.
Since I've been driving a "soft-tuned" (mildly modified) Golf 3 with a MKB 1Z engine for many years, the desire for...
1. green sticker
2. significantly more power.
3. Improved suspension.
Some time ago, things were so terribly unbearable that I bought a wrecked 2004 Octavia with an ASV engine.
Today, the engine, along with the control unit, transmission, automatic climate control, upgraded compressor, large intercooler positioned in front of the condenser, modified air intake ducts, sport suspension, KW coilover system, larger brake system, and my beautiful 17-inch Porsche wheels, are all installed in a body that is practically new and await the final touches.
The first ride only hinted at its potential – it goes like a rocket!
I just need to make the final adjustments to the VEP (voltage-error-protection) and the vacuum sensor on the loader, then I can continue fine-tuning it.
Overall, the renovation, which took about 3.5 years, was quite demanding.
- Mechanical modifications (e.g., welding the right side of the front axle motor mount to create space for the charger housing).
- Integrate the electrical system from an Octavia with that of a Golf 3 (using original Golf 3 dashboard components).
All in all, I had a lot of fun, and the result is something I'm quite proud of.
