Hi.

The MJ11 G+ has a loose connection at the OBD connector.
The VCDS connector doesn't fit as snugly as it does on the 3C or 1K models.

Most of the time, it flashes orange briefly, then turns off and on again.

Despite the subsequent green phase, CAN communication is not available.
Just unplug it and plug it back in, and avoid turning it off if possible.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of the clunky feel and electrical problems associated with the G+?
"Can the OBD dose be "reconfigured"?"

Greetings.

Hello Martin,

Possibly, the contacts are worn out; these should be available individually.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,

Then some idiot in the factory messed it up, because it was wobbly from the start - mechanically, which isn't so bad, but also electrically.

I don't see the car that often, but it annoys me every time.
I suppose I'll have to find some time for that.

I suspect it's Pin 1, but doesn't the supply voltage come from pin 16?

Hello Martin,

Correct, pins 4 and 16 are possible.
/viewtopic.php?t=3089 (picture is located quite low down on the page)

Perhaps the contact pin has simply slipped backward out of the socket and isn't actually defective.

Best regards, Rainer.

The legroom in the g+ is really tight.
I believe that no pin has slipped backward.
All the cables are securely connected in the plug, even when the locking mechanism is open.

It's particularly frustrating that the CAN (Controller Area Network) doesn't work if the connector had a loose connection at the beginning.
The LED is still lit green, though.

Therefore, an inexperienced vehicle owner cannot rely solely on the LED indicator if I want to perform a remote diagnosis from the other side of the internet.

That helps.

Unfortunately, it's not cheap, but it's the only reliable solution to unlock and replace or adjust these contacts, especially if nothing is broken.

That's probably not the ONLY solution.
And other providers are certainly no less reputable. icon_rolleyes.gif
