Hello everyone,
I've forwarded another issue that I absolutely don't consider to be normal, and the workshop is classifying it as "normal" for the user.
The vehicle is a CUPA (2.0 TDI 135 kW) in an Octavia 3, and the regeneration cycles are occurring at extremely short intervals. The latest "record" was 4 regenerations with one tank of fuel, with distances between them of 104 km, 180 km, and 64 km.
All details:
http://www.octavia-forum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=70020
Can anyone make sense of this? What would happen to a car if the EGR valve doesn't close completely (which is my current theory), and as a result, it clogs up the filter?
Best regards.

...or, for example, the differential pressure sensor might be providing incorrect readings. It's all just speculation.
It's probably difficult to achieve much without a fault scan and some measurements. LG, Onkel BM

Hi,
I would also check the differential pressure sensor first. The offset value would be particularly interesting. Gruß

I'm sorry, but the first thread is already... strange.
"Known symptoms" -> which ones?
Background: Assuming everything is already known, I believe the reasons behind the frequent regulations are also well-understood, making this thread pointless.
How does the colleague know that the CR is registered?
My BMR is being really difficult, and the BLS in the golf course isn't showing anything... no chance!
"with the predecessor," meaning O2 with engines similar to the 3C.
"every 500-1000km" -> This is very interesting because the aforementioned engines (the latest PD models) inject fuel even with an empty filter after about 400km. I haven't seen it happen any less frequently than every 420km, as far as I can remember.
My lecture on "Logic and Deduction" tells me that you can derive anything from a false premise.
Fire away!
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

At a low speed of 1,000 RPM, similar to the CBBB...
Briefly disengaging the clutch during the ride can eliminate any doubts. Gruß

"That seems fine for that particular engine. These engines can typically travel much further than 400 km if everything is working correctly. My BGW regenerates without reaching the maximum fuel level at a maximum of 1400 km or 40 operating hours. The BSS from the Superb does it every 1100 km, according to the label file. Hi,
"Not everything that someone wrote in the thread should be taken at face value, especially since many unrelated engine types were mentioned. Someone even posted a Screenshot from VCDS regarding the very long intervals some people are talking about."
O2 has used exclusively CR engines since the facelift; before that, it was mostly PD (with the exception of the last pre-facelift RS models, which were already CR). However, there's a lot of confusion being posted in that thread, but that's not really the point, it's about the CUPA.
With the CFHF (presumably a car model), I can easily tell when it's regenerating in the city. The shift recommendation desperately tries to force me into lower gears (to achieve approximately 1300-1500 RPM). The idle speed doesn't drop to 760 RPM when stationary; instead, it's closer to just under 1000 RPM, which is even higher than the normal rolling speed. Additionally, the fans are running while stationary. Of course, you don't notice this on the highway, but the car has a driving profile where this issue can definitely occur.

I interpret this as the person who started the thread being fully aware of when the car is regenerating (as mentioned above), but that this regeneration doesn't align with their driving profile in any way.
Then he should go and get some log values...

I always thought so too.
However, a fellow camper owns a 2-liter, 140 hp O2 with the facelift design and a PD engine. This O2 is only three months older than mine.
In my CFHC, the regeneration of the DPF can only be detected with great care. The gear indicator is a clue, and the prolonged running time of the fans (both!) is also a sign. They even run in cold ambient temperatures.
Sometimes, a slight vibration can be felt. However, this is very rare.
In any case, it can be identified by the consumption, which is significantly higher during regeneration.
And regarding the initial question:
Yes, it is indeed possible to have a regeneration cycle every 150-200 km. I used to experience that in the beginning as well.
But with such frequent and short regeneration cycles, something is definitely wrong. Gruß Bertil

Oh yes, so you're saying the Venti machines are running every time?
I mentioned this a long time ago because my car hardly ever regenerates its particulate filter. I've only heard it happening about twice a year, but I have a forced regeneration cycle roughly every week, usually after driving around 240 miles (385 km).
They operate normally during the actuator test or in climate control mode. And during the first year of operation, they also functioned properly during every purge cycle. Gruß

It should work like that with the PD engine. They can travel significantly further than 400 km if everything is okay. My BGW regenerates without reaching the loading value, at a maximum of 1400 km or 40 operating hours. The BSS from the Superb does it every 1100 km. That's what was stated in the label file. The BGW is a special case with its additive.
How do you remember the last interval?
Because when it's over, the counters will go back to zero.
I had read that the range was 400 km, and I have been able to confirm this on my own BMR so far.

Hi,

Oh yes, so you're saying the Venti machines are always running there?

I only notice it with the O2 system when I interrupt the regeneration process by stopping it. Otherwise, they run at a low level, so they are barely audible.

According to the Wikipedia article, PD engines were actually used until May 2010. However, since the FL [facelift] model came out in 2009, there must have been some with PD engines. Another possibility is the "Tour" version (a cheaper, pre-FL variant), but I don't think it was available as a TDI.
The owner of the car with the regeneration problem has responded to the points raised, and I'm posting their response here.

I notice it because the SSA (Supercharger Status Active) is displayed as "crossed out," the LL (Low-Level) speed is around 1000 rpm, and the radiator fan is running. My O3 only has one fan now. The driving behavior also changes significantly: the engine accelerates worse at low speeds; once it reaches about 1500 rpm, it feels like it's "kicking in," and you feel like you have a power boost .
The always seems to imply that you don't notice the changes, but I definitely do.
Let's see, my friend who has VCDS needs to find some time, then I can have something read out.

I've only had the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) for 6 weeks and I'm still learning about it. I've been checking the MWB (engine control unit data) in the evenings and can see from the loading value when regeneration is imminent, and the mileage since the last regeneration is also displayed. Since I've had it, it has regenerated 4 times. Once right after buying it on the highway, which I didn't notice. I only saw it in the diagnostic data. Otherwise, you mostly only notice it as a driver by the increased idle speed and the car having a slightly unusual engine running pattern. However, you usually only experience this at traffic lights in city driving. It doesn't exhibit any jerky behavior during regeneration. Passat Variant BGW 2005

As a 3C driver with a BMP-PD engine, I can confirm the approximately 400 km range under optimal conditions.
"I drive mostly long distances (Schleswig-Holstein, with a daily commute of 75 km each way), and I have enough data to confirm that since 105,000 km (in its original condition), the system has never reached a regeneration cycle every 500 km. Even after a filter flush and reset at approximately 210,000 km, this hasn't changed."
I'm not aware of significantly more information about additive-free lubricants ("PD") than that, but I also don't have any measurement data on this topic for other vehicles.
Greetings.
Sure.

The route is implemented in the software. Just like the amount of diesel, etc.
Maximum amount of fuel consumed since the last DPF regeneration
= 200 liters.
Maximum distance traveled since the last DPF regeneration
At CR Generation I, for example, the maximum is 1,000,000.00 m .
