Is there actually a compatibility list...?

...for mass airflow sensors within the Volkswagen Group (VAG) ?

I've heard that the parts are interchangeable with similar ones. I can't quite imagine that, but it's possible that some models produce similar or identical values.
Zu diesem Thema konnte mir noch kein Profischrauber was erzählen. Is anyone there?

It would certainly be interesting in terms of saving coal.

Here is a list of Mercedes LMMs (Mass Air Flow Sensors) that have been tested in various TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) engines:
http://vw.golz.info/download/LMM.htm

As far as I understand, this specific LMM (lambda sensor module) from Pierburg is only suitable for 4-cylinder TDis engines.
I also got one for my AHF (presumably a specific product). It's working really well!

Hello,

My A3 (built in 7/1998) with the AHF engine has a mass airflow sensor with a diameter of 70mm connected to the flexible hose.
At least the 130PS TDI engine (engine code: ASZ) in the A3 has a diameter of 80mm. The same part number as this mass airflow sensor is used in the current Golf 4 and Passat models with 96kW, produced between 11/00 and 04/01.

After browsing through some posts on the Passat forum, I still don't quite understand where and how the described mass airflow sensor from DC is supposed to fit.

@Francis: Could you please measure the outer diameter of the connection port on your mass airflow sensor housing?

Best regards, Rainer.

@rainer

The LMMs are the parts that are inserted into the intake manifold. If I understand you correctly, you have an LMM installed that is 'one piece' (like in the 1Z engine), and therefore the DC part doesn't fit! Hopefully, I've understood you correctly! icon_question.gif

Hello Jörg,

Okay, my LMM is a one-piece design. According to the list, the one from DC is compatible with the AHF.
Are there any AHF models that are designed to be disassembled?

Best regards, Rainer.

I think so. It's the same with AFN! Even with my AWX, there's a series with an LMM in the tube, and another one with a replaceable LMM.

Check this out: This is what the LMM looks like for the DC replacement!

http://www.passat3b.com/forum/daten/Forum1/HTML/004378.html

edit: At least, according to what I've seen, Audi only used the one-piece version. In the Golf or Bora, it might look different. The Golf AFN also had the one-piece version, while the Passat had the replaceable type. icon_confused.gif

Thank you very much for the very quick responses. They are helpful!
Hopefully, this part will work for my ALH engine. Is it also the case with these types that I don't have to remove the entire plastic housing, but can just remove and screw in the actual mass airflow sensor (MAF), or do I have to replace the whole unit? Do the connectors fit? Or do they almost fit? I haven't measured the diameter yet, but I will.

Round greetings from the New Beetle TDI!

Francis.

You don't need to unscrew the entire pipe; you only need to replace the actual mass airflow sensor (MAF).
You'll need a special Torx screwdriver for that (one with a hole in the middle). You can find suitable bits at Conrad relatively cheaply.
The Mercedes LMM (mass airflow sensor) fits perfectly. However, the connector clicks in differently. So it's just plugged in. But that should be fine.

'In some older TDIs, there are mass airflow sensors that are integrated into a single piece. I believe these are not from Bosch, but rather from Poerburg (just like the one used by Mercedes). However, it might be possible to obtain an adapter pipe and install the Mercedes-Benz sensor there.'

@francis

First, check before you start! If you only have the 'single nozzle' (LMM), then it won't work! Unless you find a source for an empty tube with a cutout for the LMM. But whether it will fit in terms of connection and quality...?! icon_question.gif

Too bad... it doesn't fit for me... Well, at least mine is still working perfectly after almost 140,000 km.

Best regards, Rainer.

hi rainer

You should search in AKTE, and I think there might be a hollow tube into which the DC lambda sensor should fit. The remaining question is whether the electrical connections are compatible and whether the lambda sensor provides approximately the same values! Especially the last point would interest me. Where can one find the technical data of these parts? icon_question.gif

While it's not exactly what you're looking for, but it might still be interesting:
