Hello, I hope you can help me. My Audi 2.0 TDI isn't performing very well.
Engine and turbo replacement according to the service booklet at 120,000 km, now at 213,000 km.
All hoses checked for leaks. Unfortunately, the error memory is empty.
Diesel consumption: Calculated value 8.5 - 9.5 liters, displayed value 12 - 13 liters.
The DPF regenerates after approximately 200-250 kilometers, reducing the soot level from 40 grams to 3 grams.
No smoke or fumes are produced.
"Turbocharger boost pressure too low, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) values too high."
I'm not yet fully proficient with VCDS, but I hope I've logged all the necessary data.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Perhaps it's also important to note that the car had been standing for 7 months.

Hello,
Quote: | No smoke or fumes are produced.

No, it's working as it should. The title "Exhaust Gas Recirculation - Actual Value" is misleading; it's actually "Air Mass - Actual Value," which you also logged. They are the same thing. Above a certain load point, the EGR system no longer regulates.
The turbocharger's boost pressure control system is functioning as it should, except for a slight under-boost condition.
Logge mal die Drehmomentanforderung per Gaspedal, Drehmomentbegrenzung über Getriebe und Drehmomentbegrenzug über Luftmasse/Ladedruck bei einer 1500-4000rpm Vollgasbeschleunigung im 3. Gabbreviations
It looks like (boost pressure is dropping, no smoke), as if not enough fuel is being injected, meaning the engine isn't getting any fuel.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
How then is the high fuel consumption explained? All of this is very confusing to me .
Thanks in advance, I hope I can get this logging to work.
Best regards, Thorsten.

Hi,
"Looks good. Just to be safe, check the charge air cooler for leaks, which can be identified by oily spots. The air mass readings don't suggest a major leak, but you never know."
Otherwise, if the car isn't moving forward and you can rule out a slipping clutch, everything points to insufficient fuel delivery.
"Ideally, replace the diesel filter. The seals on the 'Knackfrosch' (presumably a specific component) seem okay. Check all fuel lines for leaks and signs of damage from rodents. Make sure all hose connections are properly attached."
If there is still no performance, check whether the tandem pump can build up pressure properly.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thanks, Rainer. Yes, the intercooler system was completely checked, and the intercooler itself was even replaced, but unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem. I've logged the PDE data again; hopefully, that will help.
The coupling is great, I've checked all the hoses, and there are no leaks or anything like that, unfortunately.

Okay, please log data block 74, specifically the lambda value, under full throttle conditions at 1500-4000 rpm in third gear. You should have a lambda sensor in the DPF, and if there's insufficient fuel entering the engine, the lambda values should be noticeably higher compared to a comparable vehicle.
Unfortunately, I don't have a comparable vehicle. However, it should theoretically work with any 140HP 2.0L TDI engine that also has a DPF and runs a similar turbo pressure.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thank you very much, Rainer, for your help.
Then we just need one more vehicle for comparison.

Hi,
Please upload the log file again without any modifications. I have the impression that the file might have been corrupted due to unnecessary conversions. You can easily open and view the file with KDataScope, whether as values or curves. You received a KDataScope license when you purchased VCDS from me. The installation package is available in your customer account.
I consider CSVConv to be at least useless, because even without KDataScope, you can easily open .csv files with programs like LibreOffice. Also, Excel can import .csv files using commas as delimiters.
Because Lambda values of 300 cannot be achieved at full throttle, the vehicle wouldn't even be able to pull half a herring.
The expected values for the lambda sensor reading at full throttle range from 1.2 to 1.5.
Best regards, Rainer.

That was another piece of junk, the first half of the file was converted, but the second half wasn't. Please don't use csvconv.exe anymore; as you can see, it only produces garbage.
I manually adjusted the file, but the lambda value is too high. I was expecting values around 1.35.
Your injectors are not actually known to be prone to carbon buildup (or have modifications been made to the PD units?), so you should definitely review what has already been written.

If there is still no performance: Measure whether the tandem pump can properly build up pressure. |
With KDataScope, life can be this simple, see the pictures.
Best regards, Rainer.

I only bought the car about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I have no idea whether it was already in this condition when the previous owner sold it due to excessive repair costs, or whether there was a defect due to being idle for about 7 months, or whether someone tinkered with it beforehand. According to the service booklet, the engine and turbo were replaced by Audi at 120,000 km, so the engine has now run for approximately 95,000 km. Otherwise, the vehicle appears well-maintained and serviced, with all services having been carried out. Unfortunately, I couldn't take it for a test drive because the car was completely parked, so I relied on whether it started, how it idled, and how it responded to acceleration, and nothing negative was noticed. Now, of course, the dealer is refusing to take it back, so there is no warranty. Sorry, Rainer, I didn't know that new logs from MWB 74 were being written to the same file, so the first part still contained old, corrupted values, and the second part contained new values. I have corrected them, but you were too quick with the download .
Best regards, Thorsten.
