Can I install a motor control unit from a W210 E290 TD into a W461 GDT 290?

I have a question about the "OM 602 DE 29 LA" engine. I have a W461 gdt 290 with the OM 602 DE 29 LA engine, production code: 602.983.



I want to continue driving the car for a long time and would like to buy an engine control unit as a spare, in case it breaks down. The same engine was used in the W210 E290 Turbo as in the G-Class, with the type number: 602.982.



Now, to the question: Can you simply install a control unit from an E-Class into a G-Class? Do they fit directly, or are there any issues involved?

You should direct your question to a chip tuner who is familiar with tuning and understanding the specific engine you mentioned, rather than just a reseller.
Generally speaking, it is possible to clone engine control units (ECUs) that have the same electrical specifications but initially different software. It is also important to consider the immobilizer system.

Okay, I understand. The question is whether all the control units are identical, especially in terms of their connectors. Can I use a unit from an E-Class and adapt it for my G-Class?

Okay, I'll post my question there then. But based on my gut feeling, I think it will work if the program is adjusted.

I think my car only has a steering wheel lock and no other immobilizer system. But I'm not sure.
