Hello everyone,

I wanted to reseal my PD elements. After removing the rocker arms, 2 of the elements looked like the ones in the pictures (cylinders 1 and 4). In the red marking, there's actually a kind of "collar," and it's broken off by about 1/4. How could something like that happen?
I removed the wave guides following the repair manual. This must have happened during operation, as I was able to find remnants of the collar from various corners inside the head.
Interestingly, it seemed to run without major problems... although... perhaps the extremely high amount of detergent ended up in the oil through this route? ...because the pump piston became leaky due to the damage?

Hello,

I had a similar issue with my BRE. A piece had broken off the plunger, which is located at the top of the PD element.
As a result, the PD element would repeatedly hit the top limit, which should not happen with the correct settings.

If your valve lifters are okay, the camshaft might be loose.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hmm.

It's not completely blocked, just extremely closed. I'll take some pictures of the plunger and the adjustment screw.

Best regards,
Tobi.

Hello.

I think I've found the problem... it seems the elements weren't adjusted correctly, and the adjustment screw wasn't tightened enough... and on top of that, they were apparently very worn, even though they were supposedly replaced 100,000 km ago (or at least, that's when the seals were replaced).
Okay, what do you think about these shafts? Here's a picture... are they well-integrated already?
I ordered the corpus holders from 07eins just to be safe, but I don't think they're necessary yet.

Thank you very much and best regards.
Tobias.

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback! Regarding the wear pattern on the cylinder head, I can't say much due to my lack of experience with 2-valve engines. I would simply check that there are no burrs or scratches present. These can be reworked to a certain extent.

Did you find the article about PD (Postdoctoral) positions?
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hey, so, I did it according to the instructions, it's really not that complicated. I only installed the larger seals from 07eins, not the cylinder head retaining brackets directly... it seems to be working. Although the cylinder head is already a different one, but maybe I'll talk more about that at another time icon_wink.gif.

Best regards,
Tobi.
