I installed a new odometer and wanted to adjust the mileage using the program alfa8.
the program always closes.
Detection of combined instrument, then it closes.
Does anyone happen to have experience with Progi?
thx

Hello!
...the aforementioned program only works with VDO speedometers that have a 93C66 type EEPROM installed - for all other types, it behaves as described above. I've tested it a few times - early Golf models (97, 9 usually work.
other - System requirements:
1) IBM-compatible PC (yes, these were the days)
2) DOS Operating System (win in the DOS mode, of course, goes)
3) a genuine COM 1 interface
Now something else - although I also bought it through eBay in the past, out of ignorance, but who really needs it? The edonkey network really fulfills almost all car-related wishes... |

Hello everyone!
I'm always wondering how to get to functional software. {QUESTION} Isn't it that hard? Has anyone found anything useful in the meantime???

Well, it probably depends on the fact that such programs are quite expensive and also not very common (e.g., Tachopro). Most providers also only use hand-programmable devices instead of PC/software solutions. |

The Tachopro! interface. Check somehow via code whether the version of the program that is not paid for is working or not. If a different interface is connected, you will receive the message that you have harvested!!

Okay,
The alfa8 software only works with VW/Audi models from 1997-1999 with the EEPROM 99c66 in the instrument cluster.

Hello everyone,
In a previous thread, a participant reported that he was able to get his A4 running with an Alfa8 and a 468er PC, but not with faster Pentium processors. Recently, I had the opportunity to test the Alfa8 on my A4, which is identical in terms of year and specifications to the aforementioned one, with an original IBM 486er PC. It works just as poorly as with my 600 Dell laptop.
I assume that this must be related to my interface (eBay), because I am also unable to access all control units (e.g., the comfort locking system 46 is not found, even though it is definitely present).
Greetings

hello,
then you may not have set the COM port baud rate correctly!
Try 2400 bps

Hello,
With the baud rate in VAGCOM, I have played around both in the Windows system control and in the VAGCOM itself => nothing changes.
Whether the settings in the Control Panel also work in the DOS box, I don't know. However, Alfa8 definitely doesn't work with setting 2400. I could try setting the baud rate of the COM port again under DOS 6.2, if that's even possible.
Greetings

You cannot adjust the baud rate settings on that device; your interface is likely the source of the problem. If you cannot communicate with all other STG devices. |
