'Sorry for the somewhat strange question, but is there a headlight relay? The reason I'm asking is that my right high beam is no longer working (only the parking light and the high beam work). Replacing the bulb used to fix it, but it hasn't worked since yesterday. I've already cleaned the contacts and put in a different bulb (the other one was already worn out). Is this a known issue with the Passat, or is this just a one-off case?'

Best regards, WarLord.

icon_smile.gif Hello Warlord,
'There's no more light relay in the Beetle; it's likely that a fuse has blown, as the headlight wiring is split after the fuse.'

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'No, the fuses in the fuse box are fine. There are only two fuses for each side: one for the parking light and tail light, and one for the high beam. Both are okay for the right side, and the cable is also fine. There are about 4 volts reaching the bulb, and I don't know where they're coming from. At the back of the fuse box, there's no power coming from the connector for the right light (low beam) (0V). That's why I can't explain where the 4 volts are coming from that are reaching the bulb.'

Best regards, WarLord.

Hello!

There are definitely 6 fuses for the lights! There are separate fuses for the parking lights, low beams, and high beams, with each on both the right and left sides.

Frank.

In my Passat 35i, the parking lights and low beam headlights seem to be combined (unless there are additional fuses located outside of the fuse box).

'Edit: Problem solved, the fuses for the low beam headlights were at the very beginning (positions 1 and 2), and the one for the right headlight had blown. Without this forum, I would probably still be searching for the source of the problem. *g*'

Best regards, WarLord.
