Hello Michael II,

I certainly didn't want to upset anyone, but I just wanted to ask politely.

I am aware of the service reminder function with the warning lights in the instrument cluster, but unfortunately, it does not work for the inspection interval on my vehicle.
That's why I'm asking my question here. Of course, I thoroughly searched the forum for older posts, because I also find it annoying when a topic has to be discussed multiple times when there's a database available for that purpose.
However, I haven't been able to find a solution to my problem.
VW might be able to reset my warning lights, but it definitely can't be done without a laptop in my specific vehicle, which is why I'm asking here.

I think this forum is fantastic because qualified discussions take place here.
I would therefore be very grateful if you could unlock the previous post, so that you or someone else can kindly help me.

Best regards from the north...

Hi,

But honestly, it's enough already!

Here are people who write tirelessly (including Michael and me) to provide instructions and tips. However, others are unable to find the appropriate article under the "Tips & Tricks" section! icon_twisted.gif

This database has existed for a long time!

If you still can't find the article after following the subtle hint, then it's probably best to just give up.

It might be possible to use the VAG CPOM shareware version, but purchasing the full version is recommended. With the full version, it should definitely work (provided your vehicle is diagnostic-capable)!

Hello,

The software is diagnostic-capable and a full version is available. I was hoping to find help here, especially because this isn't a standard problem.
The dismissive attitude is really confusing me, especially since I've genuinely tried to find a solution through other means, rather than just posting something without further context.

I now understand this 'hint' and will try to clarify this issue in other forums.

I would like to sincerely apologize for this misunderstanding and for taking up so much of your time.

Despite this, I, as a vehicle development engineer, hope to be able to assist here again at a later time and to have more positive interactions.

Best regards from the north...

Hi,

Okay, let me put it another way: You're having a problem with your car! Do you finally understand now?

The procedure, including the values, is described in the technical article - you do not need a login code.
If the "offline" version is no longer working (which it should always work), then the storage (i.e., the combination unit) is probably broken!

Hello,

Quote:
Hello,

A friend lent me his laptop with VAG-COM (not the DOS version) and the adapter so I could reset my service interval display (Passat wagon, year 1998, engine code AFN, blue illumination, no navigation, no central display). According to a repair manual printed for me, the channels in the instrument cluster should be 10, 11, and 12, which need to be accessed with the original VW diagnostic tool (blue version) and then programmed with the remaining mileage.
VAG-COM zeigt mir unter "Anpassen" aber nur Kanäle bis max. 9 an. Was maWhat did I do wrong?

Do I need to log in to the instrument cluster first? There's a "login" option. When I select that, VAG-COM asks for a password that I don't know. Supposedly, this password is supposed to be in the repair manual, but I can't find anything about it in the excerpt I have.

If anyone knows how to reset the ads with this equipment and has a login code, I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Why is there such a negative attitude here?

It's simply being fiddled with on the control unit, even though the channels are clearly defined and in the...
The forum had repeatedly warned against attempting to play the game.

Tschüss

Hello,

After a long search, the error has now been found.

A contact problem at the connector of the cable for the instrument cluster. After a new timer contact connector was crimped on, the reset was possible exactly as I had previously tried. Apparently, the connection was not clean due to the poor contact.

I would like to sincerely thank the people who, without prejudice, tried to help.

I find it very unfortunate that the administrators didn't really listen to what was being said here, but instead immediately reacted aggressively and dismissively.
I would like to reiterate that I first tried the button method as described in the instructions. When that didn't work, I tried resetting the display using VAG-COM, also following the instructions. When that didn't work either, I used the search function and read the tips and tricks. As a last resort, I then asked my question, hoping to find help here, as the problem might already be known.
It was definitely not possible to find it in this forum... if I overlooked it, I apologize.

I find it very unfortunate, from a human perspective, that after the initial aggressive response to an apology and an attempt to clarify the situation, the reaction became even more incomprehensible.

However, I still want to emphasize that I believe this forum is extremely important, and I am very grateful to the people who make this wealth of knowledge available to those who are interested and seeking help.

I would be very happy if this is now understood as an unfortunate misunderstanding, and if yesterday was perhaps just a 'bad mood day.'

I would be happy to help if I can in the future.

Best regards...
