Hello engine experts and physicists!

Since it has gotten colder, I haven't observed any more black smoke coming from my tuned T4, 2.5 TDI ACV, with approximately 140 horsepower. Could it be that a 10° difference in air temperature increases the air density to such an extent that there is enough oxygen to completely compensate for the black smoke? If the difference were that minimal, a correction of the fuel injection amount, even in the summer, might achieve the desired result! Are there any experiences with this?

Best regards, Peter.

Hello,

Yes, that's possible. If it barely makes it through the winter, there might be a small amount of fuel left over in the summer that doesn't have enough oxygen for combustion.
It could also be due to the fuel. Winter diesel often has a slightly higher fuel consumption, which means it contains a bit less energy (and oxidizing agents) per unit volume. This is also related to the topic of the MFA fuel consumption display.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,

It somehow reminds me of an LLK journal article... icon_smile.gif

Hallo,
