Heavy Smoke: Causes and Prevention

hello everyone,
In the cockpit, the preheating light is flashing. Additionally, there's a lot of smoke when you accelerate, and it also smells bad.
I checked for error codes using VAG-COM, and it indicated a faulty or disconnected needle lift solenoid. I followed the wiring as far as I could. I only saw one connector (next to the large round one). Are there perhaps any other connectors?
Is this smoking and bad smell related to that?

Before you replace the ignition coil (NHG), I would definitely check all cable connections for bare spots, short circuits, and breaks. verschandeln the connectors, etc. You can also try tapping the ignition coil with a screwdriver or similar object while the engine is running to see if it changes the engine's behavior. Otherwise, replace the ignition coil.

Is there another type of connection besides the thick, round one?
It's quite cramped and difficult to make out details.
Is there a connection to the smoking? From what I've read, it should actually have a different cause.
I might also be wrong.

In a simplified explanation, the NHG (likely referring to a specific engine component or system) controls the start of fuel injection and is therefore a potential cause of smoking. While it's possible that the smoking has another reason, I would first investigate the VAG-COM error messages to rule out this source as the problem.
