Can someone tell me how you access the log files?
'convert to a diagram?'
icon_rolleyes.gif
'For me, it only shows the numerical values.'
With a diagram, you have much more icon_cool.gif overview.

I've already used the search function, but I couldn't find anything.

It can't be too heavy icon_evil.gif.

Double-click the CSV file from VAG-COM to have Excel open it.

Select the corresponding columns and use the charting function to create colorful images.

and if there's a reason why Excel isn't doing it... try importing the data with comma separation and creating a new column; that usually works. Good luck.

But the problem is that all the values are not in a separate column.

What function does this marker button actually have when I log in?

It sets a marker so that you can quickly find that specific point again later when reviewing the data.

Hello Steffarn,

But the problem is that the values are not all in a separate column yet!
Okay, then read what 'matthiasTDI96' wrote to you in this thread.

It might be set up differently for me.

Can you explain how to get there?
"There's something about data here. The text is arranged in columns."
and then he says he can only create one column?
How exactly do you do that?

@Steffarn:

I only have the English version available right now, so the German translations might be slightly different.
Data --> Text to Columns --> Delimited (separated, not fixed-width) --> Delimiters = Comma (separator = comma, not tab) -->
Then, in the preview below, you'll already see where Excel will separate the columns.

I suspect you didn't follow Mathias's suggestion about using commas, or your regional settings might be using a different separator. Just check which separator is used in your file. You also need to configure this in Excel.

Then it should work. Otherwise, please post your *.csv file (but you'll have to rename it, because the forum doesn't accept *.csv files), or send it to me via email at my board username at gmx.de.

Regards,
Private.

Yes, thank you, I've managed to figure it out now! icon_redface.gif

It's not quite working the way I imagined, but maybe I can do better someday!

I'm just wondering icon_eek.gif.

I have both Excel 97 and Excel 2000 installed, both in the German version.
That works wonderfully with the CSV files. Just click and it's done...
(Of course, they are not configured in any way; our IT people are utterly incompetent. So, it has to be something that can be easily installed and used...)

I just opened it again with Star Office 5.1. It works perfectly... no problems.

What are you doing with your programs? icon_rolleyes.gif
