Hello everyone,

This kind of junk is generated by the KLEZ virus. It works, among other things, by selecting two random addresses from the address book (+ list of sent and received emails) of an infected computer (only Windows!), and then sending a message with one of those addresses as the sender to the other.

Sometimes, you can find out where something really originates from by analyzing the headers, but this doesn't always work, and the information obtained is often limited (it seems many people use t-online...).

In any case, this is NOT an indication of a virus on Rudi's or Ulf's computers in this instance, but rather a clear sign that someone who communicates with both of them (presumably someone from the forum!) is operating an infected computer.

In summary: Anyone who uses Windows online, and perhaps even uses something like "Outlook" as their email client, should use a very up-to-date antivirus scanner and run a scan (e.g., F-Secure, McAfee, Sophos, etc.).

Ulf had sent me the email header. It contained information like a completely different reply address.
