Hello.
Can anyone tell me where the central locking module is located in a Passat Variant from the year 1999?
I want to install an acoustic signal for the car alarm so that it beeps along with the turn signals.
You're welcome.

Thank you.
'Is there a built-in buzzer, or does it only use the horn? If it's just the horn, I'm not interested in that; I want to hear a beep sound when locking/unlocking. Therefore, I need to find the wire from the central locking module that controls the turn signals. Or, are the turn signals controlled via a BUS? If so, I'll need to connect the buzzer to the central locking motor.'

Hi,

The horn only makes a quiet sound, not a loud "tut tut tut"... At least, that's how I know it.

Best regards, Rainer.

The device is controlled via the DWA horn.

The central locking system in your vehicle is controlled by the comfort control module. Unlike previous models, the central locking system is now electrically operated, with a separate actuator motor in each door (door control module).

The turn signals are controlled in the conventional manner; the corresponding pin assignments for the comfort control unit can be found in the wiring diagrams.

Rainer's link regarding the ZV (central locking) adjustment is a good starting point, but unfortunately, VW made slight modifications during the different model years.

{Comfort control unit}

ECU coding.

Select STG 46 (Comfort Control Unit).
STG Coding -> Function 07.

Central locking (2 power windows):
00256 - Single door opening.
00257 - Complete door opening.

Central locking (2 power windows and memory function):
00258 - Single door opening.
00259 - Complete door opening.

Central locking (for 4 windows).
04096 - Single door opening.
04097 - Complete door opening.

Central locking (for 4 windows and with memory function):
04098 - Single door opening.
04099 - Complete door opening.

ECU adaptation (up to 8.97).

The adaptation is not supported by the control unit.

ECU adjustment (09.97 to 05.9icon_cool.gif.

Select STG 46 (Comfort Control Unit).
Adjusting the ECU (Engine Control Unit) -> Function 10.

-> Channel 03 (Auto-Lock)
The vehicle locks at a speed of 15 km/h (0 = off; 1 = on).

-> Channel 04 (Auto-Unlock)
The vehicle locks at a speed of 15 km/h and unlocks when the ignition key is removed (0 = off; 1 = on).

-> Channel 05 (Interior monitoring deactivation).
Activation/deactivation of the interior monitoring system by pressing the central locking button twice (0 = off; 1 = on).

-> Channel 08 (unlock blinking).
The turn signals are activated when unlocking (0 = off; 1 = on).

-> Channel 09 (locking indicator blinking)
The turn signals are activated when the system is locked (0 = off; 1 = on).

-> Channel 10 (Alarm horn)
Country selection for the alarm horn (1 = Rest of the world; 2 = Germany; 3 = Great Britain).
Influences the type, duration, and volume of the alarm sound (while adhering to legal guidelines).

-> Channel 05 (Interior monitoring deactivation).
Activation/deactivation of the interior monitoring system by pressing the central locking button twice (0 = off; 1 = on).

-> Channel 06 (unlocking horn).
The unlocking is confirmed with a short beep (0 = off; 1 = on).
According to the German legislature, it is not approved.

small hint:

In the comfort-level control unit of my Octavia, the relay for the alarm horn is installed and can also be tested via diagnostics.
It also activates when opening/closing, provided that the corresponding settings are configured in the adaptation channels.

but I don't have any DWA icon_wink.gif at all.

I'm sorry, what does DWA mean??

Has anyone ever tried installing a comfort control module in a T4, since it's not available with that feature from the factory (according to information from VW, which, of course, doesn't necessarily mean anything).

Regards, Peter.

Depending on the model year, there are two different solutions for the T4: either a remote control control unit, which is essentially the same as the one used in the Golf 4 Cabrio, or...
And later, a 'real' comfort control unit, but if I understand correctly, it would then be integrated into the CAN-BUS.

A real comfort control unit in a T4???? Is that even possible??? Where can I get one??? Is there a part number??? My T4 is a 2001 model, is it possible to retrofit one?

I just had to ask, I only know that it exists... icon_smile.gif
I can't say exactly which functions that thing covers...

That's officially a control unit for the central locking system, but it's quite possible that it's 'almost' identical to the G4 Cab control unit, or even older versions.

Hmm, and which one has the comfort features? I'm not sure which one it is. Can the central locking module now offer the same functionality as a comfort module? I can't imagine that. If so, then it must be an extra control unit, right? Is there a part number for it?

I can't tell you exactly what it is, and I don't have the part number handy right now, which is why I said you should find out more information. There's probably someone friendly nearby who can quickly look it up for you...
