Hello everyone,
Briefly, here's some background:
"After replacing the camshaft, I noticed a slight decrease in power. Today, I tried to adjust the fuel injection pump. I initially shifted the pulley slightly to the left, which made things even worse. Then, I rotated the pulley slightly to the left, and the power improved. However, I then turned the pulley a little further to the right (within the adjustment slots), and now it won't start. Adjusting it further doesn't seem to help; it simply won't start. Initially, there was an error code indicating "No communication with the fuel injection pump," which I couldn't clear. Eventually, the error disappeared, but the problem persisted. Now, there's a new error code related to a faulty quantity regulator. I'm completely stuck. Could it be that the pump is now damaged? It shouldn't have been affected by the adjustment. The adjustment range is limited by the elongated slots."
Does anyone have any advice? I'm desperate.
Regards,
AL

@altonno:
I can't imagine why the pump would be broken now. I suspect it might be due to the start-up process, even though you might reject that as the cause. Try setting it up statically, and then it should start working again.
Best regards!

@diesel Rudi:
Hi, how do I statically adjust the timing? Are you referring to the pin in the crankshaft and the pin in the valve plate? Or do you have an instruction manual for me?
The funny thing is, the error is in the error memory!
@ReinerK.:
I unplugged and replugged the connector on the pump, and it seems to be working fine! Which other connectors should I check?
Regards,
Al.

Okay, I did some more searching today, but unfortunately, I haven't made any progress. The fuses in the fuse box seem to be fine. I cleared the error code from the error memory, and strangely (or luckily), it hasn't reappeared. I also adjusted the pump in the adjustment range to every conceivable position, but without success. I even removed the fuel injection lines... So, the pump is definitely delivering fuel. I'm not sure what to do next. I'll check again today to see if the timing belt might have slipped a tooth, but I can't imagine that's the problem.
Regards,
AL
