Hello.
I'm having the following problem and I'm hoping to get some advice from people with experience.
High oil consumption (1 liter per 500 km) without any external leaks.
This is associated with poor starting behavior and occasional heavy smoke after the engine has been idling. However, the smoke is mostly black smoke, although blue smoke can sometimes be observed.
Beim Kaltstart dreht der Motor auch nicht Sauber durch so als ob meine vermutung Öl in einen Zylinder läuft. Beim Demontieren der Ladedruckleitung am Kühler kamen mir so 200 ml Öl entgegen. Was is it normal?
The vehicle was manufactured in 2001 and currently has 100,000 kilometers (approximately 62,000 miles) on the odometer.
So far, I've always used fully synthetic oil. I'm currently using 5W-40, but it's not a long-life oil.
It all started shortly after the last oil change, during which the oil brand was changed.
from Elf to Valvoline.
Best regards,
Motoextrem.

1L / 500Km is certainly no longer normal!

And if you don't want to cause a piston to break, I would strongly advise you to stop driving the car immediately.
As you describe it, a significant amount of oil accumulates throughout the entire intake system. Upon starting, this amount is quickly drawn in and partially burned. This is highly dependent on the engine load and RPM. In the worst case, the engine can 'swallow' too much oil, which can then lead to piston failure.

I can only speculate about the possible causes, as I am not familiar with your engine.
Since the oil is accumulating in large quantities in the crankcase, it's possible that the turbocharger has developed a leak.

It seems that, in your case as well, the change of oil manufacturer has caused a leak in the engine. But already at 100,000 km...

Best regards, Georg.

Ouch... toothache...
My experiences with Valvoline are of a similar nature. Extremely high oil consumption, very low oil pressure, and poor heat dissipation (resulting in high oil temperatures). The stuff became as thin as water.
If the oil quality is still as bad as it was 15 years ago, I would suggest switching to a different oil manufacturer and hoping that your oil consumption returns to normal.

Does this product have the necessary approval according to standard 50501?

So, regarding Valvoline, I've already switched it out again and replaced it with Elf.
However, the oil consumption remains high. Additionally, both engine oils have the 'Pumpe Düse' (injection pump) approval.

My idea would be to separate the turbocharger's air intake and route it through a reducer into a container where I can observe the amount of oil. I know that without the turbo, the engine will run poorly, and the engine's electronics will likely detect numerous errors. However, perhaps this approach will bring me closer to identifying the problem without disassembling the engine or simply replacing the turbo. It would also be interesting to see if this resolves the starting problems.

Hello,
Without the turbo, it runs like a naturally aspirated engine with 60 horsepower; but you can't just 'bypass' the turbo, otherwise it will over-rev!
Best regards,
Günther.

Hello,

Simply check the axial (there shouldn't be any noticeable play) and radial (there should be minimal play, and nothing should rub or cause the shaft to "wobble") movement of the charger shaft.
If you're looking for extreme gaming, you don't need to look any further.

Best regards, Rainer.
