Yes, that's correct, you can adjust that setting in channel 1.

Okay, so that's the car's light, which means it only works in conjunction with a light sensor and/or the car's light switch on the Golf V.

I tried to change the time for CH (STG 9 -> Adjustment -> Channel 1 -> Saved value 30), and I reduced it to 15, but nothing changed!
The light always stays on for about 1 minute and 30 seconds afterwards!?!?!?!?!?

The value "30" that was saved should actually represent 30 seconds. However, it's possible that this setting can only be adjusted when the switch is physically installed. But that's just a guess...

or you could just try using this encoding and see if it works.

It doesn't work with this encoding either!
If I install a Golf V manual transmission, will LH still work?

Just switching the switch, is that all it takes?

The switch should fit without any problems... but I can't guarantee that it will work 100%, because there are too many different control units, etc. However, it's worth checking on eBay for a cheap one. If it doesn't work, you can just put the old one back in and sell it for the same price.
