Okay, so that's the car's light, which means it only works in conjunction with a light sensor and/or the car's light switch on the Golf V.

or you could just try using this encoding and see if it works.

The switch should fit without any problems... but I can't guarantee that it will work 100%, because there are too many different control units, etc. However, it's worth checking on eBay for a cheap one. If it doesn't work, you can just put the old one back in and sell it for the same price.
