I also work on 123 series Mercedes-Benz vehicles and engines that require 15W-40 or 20W-50 oil, and even that type of oil is still available 30 years after it was widely used as a standard lubricant.
Regarding favorite oil: The price-performance ratio must be right, and I'm open to trying other products.
I've been satisfied with it so far. Others love their Castrol products and are willing to pay more for the same specifications, and they are convinced of its quality.
Some other drivers swear by non-PD approved VS Mobile devices and are happy to pay three times the price for them... everyone has their preferences, I think it's great that I don't have to pay so much.
But I'm starting not to understand your concerns anymore. And that's where things get awkward - you're right about that.
An expiration date for oil?
Possibly, sediment may accumulate over the years. Therefore, turn the canisters upside down.
