Copy the file "028-906-021-AFN.LBL" from the folder "C:\Kaufmann\VCDS-RKS-GER\Labels" to a new file named "028-906-021-EF.LBL".

The label file worked.
Now I have a label file, and all the bubbles are displaying values. It turns out that there wasn't a label file for the engine in this car.
Now it works wonderfully icon_wink.gif.

I haven't had a chance to properly check the OT markings yet, due to the weather conditions.
My car is parked outside in the yard, and it's been raining buckets all day.

I will definitely take another look at them when the weather is better, and possibly correct them.
Of course, please provide feedback here icon_smile.gif.

Sorry for the double post.
So, as I said, using the label file worked.
Then, today I also worked on the valve timing. There's only one timing mark on the flywheel, and I manually determined its position.
So, I brought the camshaft to the TDC (Top Dead Center) position, and this time, I was very precise. I didn't have a feeler gauge available, but I used razor blades instead, and it worked wonderfully icon_smile.gif. It took a little tinkering, but it worked.

After that, the crankshaft position sensor (ESP) was disconnected, and the top dead center (TDC) was manually determined, revealing that only one camshaft had the notch. Subsequently, the crankshaft was aligned, the timing belt was placed and tensioned, and the TDC markings now align correctly.

Okay, I started it, but the blue smoke is still there.
I mean something a little less, but still quite a bit.
Whether it's warm or cold, I've also done a smell test, but I'm a bit unsure. Based on the smell coming from the air intake, I would say the engine is burning oil.

Okay, here's the translation:

"It's me again, and today I tackled the blue smoke issue once more."

Since the timing marks were definitely correct, today I focused on the ESP (electric steering pump) itself. I loosened the three screws on the timing belt side and loosened the last one at the end of the pump so that I could adjust the pump's position.
I then used VCDS to adjust the ESP settings so that I'm essentially in the default mode, on the ideal line, and tightened the screws.
Engine started, brought up to the usual smoking RPM, and warmed up.
"Look, the car is no longer emitting smoke, the fuel injection timing is now perfectly aligned, and it starts immediately."

I'd say someone probably messed with the fuel pump before, which is why the car was smoking.

Anyway, the issue is now resolved, and I'm finally satisfied without any blue smoke coming out the back.
Thank you to everyone who helped me icon_smile.gif.

Best regards.
Tobi.

Hello,

Please perform a diagnostic run using VCDS and check measuring block 4, especially under load and at high RPM.
Background: Your ESP seems to be having issues with the fuel injection start timing, although your Screenshot from the timing checker actually looked okay. Depending on the fuel used and the driving profile, this is a normal wear and tear process that typically starts around 250,000 km. However, the cause could also be a lack of fuel supply (check the diesel filter and hoses).

Attention: If the actual value consistently lags behind the target value by several degrees Kelvin from the start of the injection, the pistons will eventually break, and the cylinder head is also prone to overheating. icon_exclaim.gif
Then it's better to repair it, or just drive a little more gently for the next few thousand kilometers.

Best regards, Rainer.
